のちのアーティストに多大な影響を与え、ヒット・チャートに偉大な記録を残したロック名盤。このページでは、ロックの代表的なアルバムのうち、1963年～1966年に発売された11枚のアルバム（James Brown, The Yardbirds, The Byrds, Bob Dylanなど）をショート・レビューと共に紹介します。また、関連する他のアルバムや、同じアーティストの他の作品については、参考アルバムとして、アーティスト名とタイトル、発売年をリストします（22作品）。

ファンクの帝王と呼ばれるJames Brownのエネルギッシュでダイナミックなステージの模様を収めた、ソウル・ミュージック史上屈指の名ライヴ・アルバム。ニューヨークの著名なクラブであるアポロ・シアターで1962年に録音された。R&Bのアルバムとして初のミリオン・セラーになる大ヒットを記録。

The Yardbirds / Five Live Yardbirds

英国の代表的ブルース・ロック・グループ、Yardbirdsのライヴを収めたファースト・アルバム。 Yardbirdsは、Eric Clapton、Jeff Beck、Jimmy Pageという3人の著名なギタリストを輩出したことで有名。この時のギタリストはEric Claptonである。

The Beatlesのアメリカ、日本でのデビュー・アルバム。作詞、作曲、演奏の全てを自分たちで手掛けた、当時としては画期的なアルバムであった。「I Want to Hold Your Hand / 抱きしめたい」、「I Saw Her Standing There」、「All My Loving」を収録。

Bob Dylan / Highway 61 Revisited

●013: Bob Dylan / Highway 61 Revisited (1965年)

Bob Dylanの6枚目のアルバム(邦題は『追憶のハイウェイ61』)。前作『Bringing It All Back Home』では、ロック・サウンドを取り入れたフォーク・ロックという新しいスタイルを提示し、ファンを驚かせた。本作は前作以上にロック色を強めた内容。オープニングの「Like a Rolling Stone」は全米1位を記録した。

Bert Jansch & John Renbourn / Bert & John

二人のイギリス人ギタリスト、Bert JanschとJohn Renbournによるギターとヴォーカルのみのアルバム。Bert JanschはJimmy PageやRory Gallagherに多大な影響を与えた。

Paul Butterfield Blues Band / East West

アメリカにおけるブルース・ロックの先駆的なグループ、Paul Butterfield Blues Bandのセカンド・アルバム。Mike Bloomfield、Elvin Bishopという歴史に残る二人のギタリストの見事な演奏を収録している。

Donovan / Sunshine Superman

“イギリスのBob Dylan" として注目を集めたDonovanのサード・アルバム。タイトル・ソング「Sunshine Superman」が全米1位のヒットを記録した他、後にVanilla Fudgeなど様々なバンドが取り上げた有名曲「Season of the Witch」を収録。
